    Zipkin

    Zipkin

Distributed tracing system to gather timing data

Zipkin is a distributed tracing system. It helps gather timing data needed to troubleshoot latency problems in service architectures. Features include both the collection and lookup of this data. If you have a trace ID in a log file, you can jump directly to it. Otherwise, you can query based on attributes such as service, operation name, tags and duration. Some interesting data will be summarized for you, such as the percentage of time spent in a service, and whether or not operations failed. The Zipkin UI also presents a Dependency diagram showing how many traced requests went through each application. This can be helpful for identifying aggregate behavior including error paths or calls to deprecated services. Applications need to be “instrumented” to report trace data to Zipkin.

    C# for Visual Studio Code

    C# for Visual Studio Code

C# support for Visual Studio Code (powered by OmniSharp)

Welcome to the C# extension for Visual Studio Code! This extension provides the following features inside VS Code. Lightweight development tools for .NET Core. Great C# editing support, including Syntax Highlighting, IntelliSense, Go to Definition, Find All References, etc. Debugging support for .NET Core (CoreCLR). Note: Mono debugging is not supported. Desktop CLR debugging has limited support. Support for project.json and csproj projects on Windows, macOS and Linux. .NET Framework builds of OmniSharp no longer ship with Mono or the MSBuild tooling (See announcement omnisharp-roslyn#2339). To ensure that the C# extension remains usable out of the box for .NET SDK projects, we have changed the default value of omnisharp.useModernNet to true.

    FineTune

    FineTune

FineTune, a macOS menu bar app to control volume for each app

FineTune is a macOS menu bar application that gives users fine-grained control over system audio by allowing them to adjust volume levels for individual applications independently, route audio streams to different output devices, and apply personalized equalizer settings. It fills a gap in macOS audio control by providing more advanced routing and audio shaping capabilities than the default system controls, making it useful for power users, audio professionals, and anyone needing precise management of their sound environment. Through a clean, minimal interface accessible from the menu bar, FineTune lets users isolate and balance application volumes, assign specific outputs (like headphones versus speakers), and tweak equalization to enhance or tailor audio based on content or personal preference. Its integration into the OS workflow means that these adjustments persist across sessions and respect the user’s choices without requiring constant interaction with deeper system settings.

    Git

    Git

Fast, scalable, distributed revision control system

Git is a free, distributed version control system created by Linus Torvalds in 2005 to manage the development of the Linux kernel. It emphasizes speed, data integrity, and support for non-linear workflows, and remains the most popular VCS for collaborative software development. Git is an Open Source project covered by the GNU General Public License version 2 (some parts of it are under different licenses, compatible with the GPLv2). It was originally written by Linus Torvalds with help of a group of hackers around the net. Git is a fast, scalable, distributed revision control system with an unusually rich command set that provides both high-level operations and full access to internals.

    PerfView

    PerfView

PerfView is a CPU and memory performance-analysis tool

PerfView is a free performance analysis tool that helps isolate CPU and memory-related performance issues. It is a Windows tool, but it also has some support for analyzing data collected on Linux machines. It works for a wide variety of scenarios, but has a number of special features for investigating performance issues in code written for the .NET runtime. If you are unfamiliar with PerfView, there are PerfView video tutorials. Also, Vance Morrison's blog gives an overview and getting started information. PerfView is built on a library called Microsoft.Diagnostics.Tracing.TraceEvent, which knows how to both collect and parse Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) data. Thus if there is any information that PerfView collects and processes that you would like to manipulate yourself programmatically, you would probably be interested in the TraceEvent Library Documentation.

    Solidity

    Solidity

    The Smart Contract Programming Language

Solidity is a statically-typed curly-braces programming language designed for developing smart contracts that run on Ethereum. Solidity 0.8.4 adds custom structured errors, allows more flexible configuration of the SMTChecker and fixes a bug in the Solidity ABI decoder v2. Read more about the bug here. With v0.8.4, errors can be defined inside and outside of contracts (including interfaces and libraries). This provides a convenient and gas-efficient way to explain to users why an operation failed. As a relatively young language, Solidity is advancing at a rapid speed. We aim for a regular (non-breaking) release every 2-3 weeks, with approximately two breaking releases per year. You can follow the implementation status of new features in the Solidity Github project. You can see the upcoming changes for the next breaking release by switching from the default branch (develop) to the breaking branch.

    Vaultwarden

    Vaultwarden

Bitwarden compatible server written in Rust

Basically full implementation of Bitwarden API is provided including organizations support, attachments, vault API support, serving the static files for Vault interface, website icons API, authenticator and U2F support, yubiKey and Duo support. Pull the docker image and mount a volume from the host for persistent storage. This will preserve any persistent data under /vw-data/, you can adapt the path to whatever suits you. Some web browsers, like Chrome, disallow the use of Web Crypto APIs in insecure contexts. In this case, you might get an error like Cannot read property 'importKey'. To solve this problem, you need to access the web vault from HTTPS. This can be configured in vaultwarden directly or using a third-party reverse proxy (some examples). If you have an available domain name, you can get HTTPS certificates with Let's Encrypt, or you can generate self-signed certificates with utilities like mkcert. Some proxies automatically do this step, like Caddy.

    Scoop Installer

    Scoop Installer

    A command-line installer for Windows

Scoop is a command-line installer for Windows. If you have built software that you would like others to use, Scoop is an alternative to building an installer (like MSI or InnoSetup). You just need to compress your app to a .zip file and provide a JSON manifest that describes how to install it. Scoop downloads and manages packages in a portable way, keeping them neatly isolated in ~\scoop. It won't install files outside its home, and you can place a Scoop installation wherever you like. For terminal applications, Scoop creates shims, a kind of command-line shortcut, inside the ~\scoop\shims folder, which is accessible in the PATH. For graphical applications, Scoop creates program shortcuts in a dedicated Start menu folder, called 'Scoop Apps'. This way, packages are always cleanly uninstalled and you can be sure what tools are currently in your PATH and in your Start menu.

    Swagger Editor

    Swagger Editor

    An editor designed for Swagger

Swagger Editor lets you edit Swagger API specifications in YAML inside your browser and to preview documentations in real time. Valid Swagger JSON descriptions can then be generated and used with the full Swagger tooling (code generation, documentation, etc). swagger-editor is a traditional npm module intended for use in single-page applications that are capable of resolving dependencies (via Webpack, Browserify, etc). swagger-editor-dist is a dependency-free module that includes everything you need to serve Swagger Editor in a server-side project, or a web project that can't resolve npm module dependencies. If you're building a single-page application, using swagger-editor is strongly recommended, since swagger-editor-dist is significantly larger.
