TurboVNC
High-speed, 3D-friendly, TightVNC-compatible remote desktop software
TurboVNC is a high-performance, enterprise-quality version of VNC based on TightVNC, TigerVNC, and X.org. It contains a variant of Tight encoding that is tuned for maximum performance and compression with 3D applications (VirtualGL), video, and other image-intensive workloads. TurboVNC, in combination with VirtualGL, provides a complete solution for remotely displaying 3D applications with interactive performance. TurboVNC's high-speed encoding methods have been adopted by TigerVNC and libvncserver, and TurboVNC is also compatible with any other TightVNC derivative. TurboVNC forked from TightVNC in 2004 and still covers all of the TightVNC 1.3.x features, but TurboVNC contains numerous feature enhancements and bug fixes relative to TightVNC, and it compresses 3D and video workloads much better than TightVNC while using generally only 5-20% of the CPU time of the latter. Using non-default settings, TurboVNC can also be made to compress 2D workloads as "tightly" as TightVNC. -

ARecordUpdater is an application that automatically updates A-Records for certain hosts. This update client keeps your hostname’s IP address up-to-date. If you have a dynamic IP address which changes periodically (monthly, weekly or even daily), then this can make it difficult or impossible to connect to services at home, like remote desktop or FTP. Using ARecordUpdater allows you to make sure you can always reach your home network, because it makes sure that your hostname is always up-to-date with the latest IP address. The update client can be run using a cron job to automate the process. So once you have it properly configured you don’t have to worry about it; you only need to remember your hostname to reach your files and services. Currently 3 hosts are supported: - one.com - eurohost.com - antagonist.nl ARecordUpdater doesn't use its own timer. It's better to use a cron job, so it uses less memory. A tool for organising, visualising and executing Web resources.
CloudPower is a Java application that offers functionality similar to that found in operating systems, for the World Wide Web. References to Web resources, whether they be static or dynamic can be arranged into sets. These sets can themselves contain other sets, allowing for resources to be arranged like files on an operating system. These sets can be saved and retrieved, allowing users to organise their cloud resources. Two graph visualisations (hierarchy and energy) let users quickly navigate the structure of references between resource sets. The energy visualisation is particularly good at showing this structure in a compact manner when the links represent information arranged as an arbitrarily directed graph rather than a tree. CloudPower also demonstrates how remote desktop applications can be displayed locally using X Windows, for any operating system and network configuration.
