An Open Source model rocket simulator.

This open-source software enables profiling and analysis of laser beams. It can be used with a variety of cameras supported by ImageJ and Micro-Manager, or images from any other source. It provides all common analysis methods like D4Sigma, knife-edge, as well as fitting of Hermite-Gauss, Laguerre-Gauss and super-Gauss functions.

JaxoDraw is a tool to generate Feynman diagrams in a mouse click-and-drag fashion. Graphs can be exported to a variety of graphics formats and arbitrary latex code can be used for labels to produce high-quality publishing-style figures.

The DigitalSimulator is your Virtual Electronics Lab, allowing you to design, simulate and output your digital circuit board designs.

gVirtualXRay is a C++ library to simulate X-ray imaging. It is based on the Beer-Lambert law to compute the absorption of light (i.e. photons) by 3D objects (here polygon meshes). It is implemented on the graphics processing unit (GPU) using the OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL). SimpleGVXR is a smaller library build on the top of gVirtualXRay. It provides wrappers to Python, R, Ruby, Tcl, C#, Java, and GNU Octave.

jQuantum is a Java program to simulate a quantum computer, to design quantum circuits, and to visualize the execution of quantum algorithms. Another main purpose, however, is to create images in your head, and thereby - understanding.

Radiation detection and measurement education is necessary for a wide variety of people working with radiation. The equipment and laboratory setup needed for delivering this education are expensive and difficult to assemble due to the large variety of the type of experiments that are desirable to cover. For a basic education one needs to have gamma, beta, alpha and neutron sources, at least one detector to detect each type of radiation and other supplemental instrumentation to perform experiments. Although the radiation exposure due to these radioactive sources in an education laboratory is low, shielding and a private secured place is needed. Nearly two hundred thousand dollars is needed to construct such a basic laboratory described as above. In order to overcome these difficulties, a model of a basic Radiation Detection Laboratory has been created to provide a virtual environment for designing and simulating such experiments. GridLAB-D is a new power system simulation tool that provides valuable information to users who design and operate electric power transmission and distribution systems, and to utilities that wish to take advantage of the latest smart grid technology. It incorporates advanced modeling techniques with high-performance algorithms to deliver the latest in end-use load modeling technology integrated with three-phase unbalanced power flow, and retail market systems. Historically, the inability to effectively model and evaluate smart grid technologies has been a barrier to adoption; GridLAB-D is designed to address this problem. DataMelt (or "DMelt") is an environment for numeric computation, data analysis, computational statistics, and data visualization. This Java multiplatform program is integrated with several scripting languages such as Jython (Python), Groovy, JRuby, BeanShell. DMelt can be used to plot functions and data in 2D and 3D, perform statistical tests, data mining, numeric computations, function minimization, linear algebra, solving systems of linear and differential equations. Linear, non-linear and symbolic regression are also available. Neural networks and various data-manipulation methods are integrated using powerful Java API. Elements of symbolic computations using Octave/Matlab scripting are supported.

Optical Design Software for optical systems comprised of light sources, lenses, apertures, prisms, imagers, photometers, etc. Simulate light through the system and compute images and intensities at various locations in the design.

This project now lives at https://github.com/dwvisser/jam-daq-code/ Jam is an easy-to-use self-contained data acquisition and analysis system for VME-based (or CAMAC-based) nuclear physics experiments. Jam has an easy, standard GUI for taking and sorting multi-parameter event-based data into 1-d and 2-d histograms.

CPSeis is the open-source version of ConocoPhillips' former seismic processing system. Uses Fortran 90 and C/C++ layers for I/O. The new system was designed using an MPI-parallel model and works well on Linux clusters or on individual workstations.

jCAE is a JAVA based environment for CAE applications. It provides meshing and visualization capabilities. It is targetted to run on a maximal number of platform.

JGP is a GUI for gnuplot (http://www.gnuplot.info/). It is made for all those who just love gnuplot but who found that organizing a large number of datasets and plots from the command line is inconvenient. JGP uses gnuplot as plotting engine.

This software allows you perform six degree of freedom simulations of High Power Rocket (HPR) and model rocket flights. Parachute descent is also simulated. 3D flight trajectories are produced as well as detailed tabular flight data. Running in Monte Carlo mode allows generates multiple possible flight paths and splash down plots, indicating the probability of landing in an area. This is a simulation package developed for numerical simulation of ultrashort pulse propagation in optical media and pulse generation from mode-locked lasers. Although the code is primarily intended for investigations of fiber links, fiber amplifiers and fiber lasers, it can be applied to any other setting for which the governing equiations are valid. The physics included in the code is based on a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation, including higher order dispersion, stimulated Raman effect, gain with bandwidth limitation and saturation, loss, and saturable absorption. This program allows you to create a transmission hologram using just a computer, a laser-printer, and an overhead transparency. This hologram will behave like one created using a laser and can be projected or viewed with a point source.
