It's a tool for scientists and engineers who have to do with electrochemistry and electrokinetics. When two solutions containing ions are put into contact, possibly through a porous diaphragm, a voltage develops across them. The calculation of the voltage is not trivial. The program is written in Java. Includes classes that can be included in other programs, together with graphical interfaces (also as an applet).

    The Home of DMSFT, AAFFT, GFFT, and MSFFT.

    A collection of sparse Fourier transform codes developed by faculty at MSU. Currently codes for four different prototype sparse FFTs are here: 1.) DMSFT, implemented by Ruochuan Zhang. This is a fast, stable, noise robust, and *fully discrete* improvement on the ideas in GFFT below. It is THE BEST sparse FFT around!!! If you're looking for AAFFT, try this out first. 2.) AAFFT, implemented by Mark Iwen in 2008. This code is easy to use, and documented well, but not implemented very efficiently. It is much slower than it should be. 3.) GFFT, implemented by Ben Segal and Mark Iwen. This code is less easy to use, and also not terribly efficient. But, the *algorithm* itself is significantly simpler and has "essentially no parameters". 4.) MSFFT, implemented by David Lawlor and Bosu Choi. This code is fast, but is not terribly easy to use.     Optimizer_sovkov

    Constructing and optimizing general mathematical and physical models

    We present the package Optimizer, aimed at constructing and optimizing general mathematical models of phenomena of versatile nature. It is written in the Matlab algorithmic language and is executed in the Matlab environment with partial functionality in Octave. The convenient visual interface and the detailed manuals are provided. The main benefit of the package is its capability to construct models of any level of complexity in a block-by-block manner. Elementary model blocks can be collected in libraries, and we have already written many such library programs. Many of these programs are already available along with the main package. Currently, the main focus of these is computational quantum mechanics, analysis and simulation of molecular spectra, and general-purpose approximants. The package provides the most reliable modern strategies for linear and non-linear model optimization, regularization, and hypothesis tests. Parallel computing is supported.

    SPIW is a MATLAB toolbox, for automated processing of scanning probe microscope images. Tools are applicable to all SPM images, but the main focus is on images with atomic or molecular resolution. SPIW is primarily a MATLAB toolbox with functions designed to be called in a user's own script. SPIW also has a very basic GUI for browsing and exporting images. For information on SPIW's performance see our publication ( http://dx.doi.org/10.1063/1.4827076 ) in the Review of Scientific Instruments. A related open-source project SPIEPy (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/SPIEPy/) is developing a python library to for automated SPM imaged enhancement. SPIEPy brings many SPIW algorithms to the Python user.

    SURF-nanodots

    Very basic computer vision program

    This was my first big programming project. I'd like to clean it up and improve the back end design when time permits. See the wiki for known issues and more information. A computer vision program for analysis of magnetic data collected by a scanning probe microscope. Originated in summer 2007 as a collection of C compiled for Matlab (MEX) files and was eventually ported to a standalone C++ application with a GUI created in Qt. This program takes atomic and magnetic force microscope (AFM/MFM) image pairs as input and uses threshold segmentation to identify magnetic nanodots by intensity in the AFM image. These are then used to assess the magnetic states of those dots in the MFM image Attribution: "C++ GUI Programming with Qt 4" by Blanchette and Summerfield was helpful in getting me started on the GUI.
