Smart home thermostat with touch screen and home automation

This project includes both hardware- and software design for a new innovative Home Thermostat. It is based on NXP ARM-M series microcontroller and offers a large touch screen. All software and interfaces are open allowing other users to add custom hardware, such as sensors and actuators for home automation. Also, a network connection is provided (WIFI optional) to allow mobile apps to communicate with the home thermostat to set and read values and/or control the home automation system.

    Solarstorm

    Solarstorm

A rethinking of the Operating System Ecosystem.

This is the fifth or sixth generation of this idea, the big difference being that we have written some bootloader code and have started mapping out the kernel layout and structure. We have decided upon a core programming language for the kernel, and the core language for almost everything else. With a focus on isolating the MAJOR kernel features from the system itself, in what until now has remained research only instances, we hope to create a fully functioning exokerne. All code at this time will be available only via a git repository.

    Subra Kernel
A new kernel I am developing in my spare time. The eventual solution I hope will involve a 32 bit base kernel and 64 bit extensions therefore maximising compatibility with non 64 bit machines. Database oriented. Checkout http://www.love2code.org UPDATE 18-Dec-2011 Updates haven't occurred for some time (April) due to working and studying for my Computer Science degree at the University of Ulster, but it's Christmas! so may be we'll get a little closer to doing some more work. I have been somewhat worried about the number of downloads taking place, so I must point out, in no way can this system be used (yet), it's an exploratory project and while it does have some graphics and other bits, only the code at the moment is useful for anyone. Feel free to look at the code (or run iso in VirtualBox) and feel free to join in.

    SuperKernel
Note: the project is basically dead, as I started rewriting it but I don't have much free time to work on it. It's basically a micro-kernel, but on top of that, instead of having multiple servers running as standalone processes, it has a modular kernel, so that each server is a module of this kernel. The micro-kernel contains only the scheduler, memory management and drivers for high-speed devices (like gigabit ethernet NICs or video cards).
