GraphicsMagick provides a set of commandline tools and programming APIs for manipulating, editing, and converting raster and vector images. It is derived from ImageMagick, with the objective of providing better stability and performance than ImageMagick while retaining the original MIT/X11 license.

WaveSurfer is an open source tool for sound visualization and manipulation. Typical applications are speech/sound analysis and sound annotation/transcription. WaveSurfer may be extended by plug-ins as well as embedded in other applications.

New version 0.5.2.1 Released December 29th 2025. Snowmix is a Swiss army knife tool for mixing live and recorded video and audio feeds. It supports 2D and 3D clipping, scaling and transparent overlay of video, png graphics and text. It supports animation of video, images and texts through native commands changing scale, placement, transparency and rotation. Animation and actions can also be controlled through native scripting and an embedded Tcl and/or Python interpreter. Snowmix is designed for control over low bandwidth links and can work as a standalone CLI based program. Control over both CLI and a TCP connections. Video input and outputs can be done through GStreamer pipelines or the GStreamer shmsrc/shmsink API. The program has various modes of viewing the contents of the midi file. The program allows you to search for midi files having certain characteristic on your hard drive (eg. tempo exceeds 200 bpm and number of pitchbends greater than 100).

ESI MAYA22 USB audio interface (https://www.esi-audio.com/products/maya22usb/) is not officially supported for Linux. However, it complies with the "USB audio" standard and works under Linux, except for special control functions. This project is a GUI application for managing these functions in a Linux environment. Thanks to another existing project (https://github.com/rabits/esi-maya22-linux) for ideas.

Tksolfege is an ear training program for learning to recognize chords, intervals, perform rhythm dictation, solfege dictation and singing solfege sequences. As you will discover, it is not an easy program to install and setup on your computer. You will also require to install the tcl/tk interpreter, fluidsynth, and at least one soundfont file. On Windows 11, you may also need to configure the operating system to show the file extension and the hidden directories. Imgtools is a C extension to Tk, that provides functionality to modify Tk's photo images. Imgtools can scale images, rotate images and modify the alpha channel. For scaling and rotating three interplation methods are available: nearest neighbor, linear and bicubic (the Catmull - Rom flavor).
