A practical desktop app for language learning through reading
FLTR (Foreign Language Text Reader) helps you do both extensive and intensive reading as part of your foreign language acquisition in an easy and pleasant way. While reading, you look up unknown words in web dictionaries (online) or locally installed dictionary applications, save vocabulary terms with translations, and track your learning progress. Each term has a learning status (1/"Unknown" to 5/"Known", plus "Ignored" and "Well Known") with associated colors. Running the Application: You'll need an installed JRE (Java Runtime Engine) and the file "fltr.jar" which is in the download. This OFFICIAL VERSION is from the original author, and it is stable and bug-free. -

easyjasub (http://easyjasub.sf.net) is a tool to assist in understanding Japanese subtitles those who have a little knowledge of Japanese language, for language learning. It allows you to get subtitles with furigana and in-line translation, in several formats suitable for both video rendering and self-study Timing for the Japanese subtitles is used, the secondary subtitles may be repeated into multiple lines. The synchronization of input text subtitles is very important to properly associate them. Musaheb
An Arabic collocation extraction tool
“Musaheb”, an Arabic collocation extraction tool that has been designed and implemented to overcome the limitations of existing collocation extraction tools. “Musaheb” is able to extract n-gram collocations up to 5-gram, in addition to extracting the collocates of the nodes (the word-types we are looking for its collocates) within a window size of zero to 15 words. Moreover, it provides eight collocation statistics to calculate the strength of the collocation, and permits the input of various constraints during node selection and collocate extraction. Based on the user preferences for the node, concordance and collocates selection, the tool saves all nodes and their associated collocates in an XML file; allowing easy conversion to different formats. -

This program was designed for use with the FLTR language software. It will automatically generate the majority of Japanese verb conjugations, and allow you to automatically add them to your FLTR ***_Words.csv file. Please note, as of yet, する、来る and 行く are not supported, as they are irregularities. It would be best to add these to FLTR manually, to avoid confusion.

The basic principle behind this program is 'Learning by Doing'. The user is encouraged to extend a database with acquired information about Chinese characters and Japanese Words. This information may turn out useful in the integrated text editor, for both reading and writing. So there are multiple different uses for this program: - Learn about Chinese characters. Gain, store and memorize knowledge about specific characters and words. - Input devices for Chinese (and Japanese) characters. For use without much prior knowledge. - Working with Japanese text, with powerful help. Input devices based on visual similarities and pure ASCII readings. Automatic space insertion before dictionary words and word highlighting. Compact info display in 'Trading Card' style. Currently the example database contains over 95.000 readings, including readings for more than 4500 of the most common Kanjis. A youtube tutorial shows how to extend the database. -
