    git-open

    git-open

Type `git open` to open the GitHub page or website for a repository

Type git open to open the repo website (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket) in your browser. git open works with these hosted repo providers, git open --issue currently only works with GitHub, Visual Studio Team Services and Team Foundation Server. The preferred way of installation is to simply add the git-open script somewhere into your path (e.g. add the directory to your PATH environment or copy git-open into an existing included path like /usr/local/bin). Antigen will handle cloning the plugin for you automatically the next time you start zsh, and periodically checking for updates to the git repository. You can also add the plugin to a running zsh with antigen bundle paulirish/git-open for testing before adding it to your .zshrc. Add zgen load paulirish/git-open to your .zshrc file in the same function you're doing your other zgen load calls in. ZGen will take care of cloning the repository the next time you run zgen save, and will also periodically check for updates to the git repository.

    git-reflow

    git-reflow

    Reflow automatically creates pull requests

Reflow automatically creates pull requests, ensures the code review is approved, and squash merges finished branches to master with a great commit message template. Enforce code reviews across your team. Know that your entire team delivers code the same way. Reduce the knowledge needed to deliver great code. Have a commit history that's clean and actually usable. Revert features with ease (if needed). Work with diverse teams with less worry about different processes. Stop searching for other git workflows. Reflow covers 90% of your needs without junk you'll never use. Git-reflow's default process isn't meant to fit every team, which is why we've introduced Custom Workflows. With a custom workflow, you can add hooks to be run before, or after any command. Use one of our pre-configured workflows as a basis for your own.

    gitwatch

    gitwatch

Watch a file or folder and automatically commit changes to a git repo

A bash script to watch a file or folder and commit changes to a git repo. Some programs auto-write their config files, without waiting for you to click an 'Apply' button; or even if there is such a button, most programs offer you no way of going back to an earlier version of your settings. If you commit your config file(s) to a git repo, you can track changes and go back to older versions. This script makes it convenient, to have all changes recorded automatically. If you use an editor that does not have built-in git support (or maybe if you don't like the git support it has), you can use gitwatch to automatically commit your files when you save them, or combine it with the editor's auto-save feature to fully automatically and regularly track your changes. If you have any other uses, or can think of ones, please let us know, and we can add them to this list! gitwatch can be installed from source by simply cloning the repository and putting the shell script into your $PATH.

    hub

    hub

Extension to command-line git for GitHub

hub is an extension to command-line git that helps you do everyday GitHub tasks without ever leaving the terminal. Hub is a tool that wraps git in order to extend it with extra functionality that makes it better when working with GitHub. Available commands are split into two groups: those that are already present in git but that are extended through hub, and custom ones that hub provides. Most hub commands are supposed to be run in a context of an existing local git repository. Hub will automatically detect the GitHub repository that the current working directory belongs to by scanning its git remotes. In case there are multiple git remotes that are all pointing to GitHub, hub assumes that the main one is named "upstream", "github", or "origin", in that order of preference.

    Captain

    Captain

Convert your Git workflow to Docker containers

Captain - Convert your Git workflow to Docker containers ready for Continuous Delivery. Define your workflow in the captain.yaml and use captain to your Continuous Delivery service to create containers for each commit, test them and push them to your registry only when tests passes. Use captain build to build your Dockerfile(s) of your repository. If your repository has local changes the containers will only be tagged as latest, otherwise the containers will be tagged as latest, COMMIT_ID & BRANCH_NAME. Now your Git commit tree is reproduced in your local docker repository. Use captain test to run your tests. Use captain push to send selected images to the remote repository. From the other side, you can now pull the feature branch you want to test, or create distribution channels (such as 'alpha', 'beta', 'stable') using git tags that are propagated to container tags. Captain will automatically configure itself with sane values without the need for any pre-configuration.

    Git Credential Manager for Windows

    Git Credential Manager for Windows

Secure Git credential storage for Windows for Visual Studio

Git Credential Manager for Windows is no longer being maintained. The cross-platform Git Credential Manager Core (GCM Core) is the official replacement. GCM Core is included as an optional component of Git for Windows 2.28 and will be made the default credential helper as of Git for Windows 2.29. GitHub will disable password-based authentication on APIs Git Credential Manager for Windows uses to create tokens. As a result, GCM for Windows will no longer be able to create new access tokens for GitHub. Git Credential Manager Core (GCM Core) supports OAuth-based authentication with GitHub and is the replacement for GCM for Windows. The Git Credential Manager for Windows (GCM) provides secure Git credential storage for Windows. It's the successor to the Windows Credential Store for Git (git-credential-winstore), which is no longer maintained. Compared to Git's built-in credential storage for Windows (wincred).

    Git Katas

    Git Katas

A set of exercises for deliberate Git Practice

This repository is a collection of Git exercises. The concept is stolen without shame from Schauderhaft.de. Unfortunately, they have not maintained the system - and we need more good Git exercises. The exercises are designed for use when we are teaching Git courses. You should be able to use them as self-contained exercises that will allow you to keep your Git skills sharp. Exercises starting with basic are entry-level - other exercises vary greatly in difficulty. If you are coming to this repository for some basic Git knowledge, we recommend going through the exercises in the following order. This is the order that Jan Krag at Praqma teaches Git and might change over time. There are more exercises than this, but these should take you through everything you need to be able to use Git effectively in your day to day life.

    Git Subtree Splitter

    Git Subtree Splitter

Split a repository to read-only standalone repositories

Split a repository to read-only standalone repositories. splitsh-lite replaces the subtree split Git built-in command to make splitting a monolithic repository to read-only standalone repositories easy and fast. Both strategies work well and both have drawbacks as well. splitsh helps use both strategies by providing tools that automatically synchronize a monolithic repository to standalone repositories in real-time. splitsh-lite is a sub-project that provides a faster implementation of the git subtree split command, which helps create standalone repositories for one or more sub-directories of a main repository. If you want to learn more about monorepo vs manyrepos, watch this 4-minute lightning talk I gave at dotScale (or read the slides)... or watch the longer version from DrupalCon. "The Monorepo - Storing your source code has never been so much fun" is also a great resource.

    Git Updater

    Git Updater

This WP plugin will update GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab, etc.

This plugin was originally designed to simply update any GitHub-hosted WordPress plugin or theme. Your plugin or theme must contain a header in the style.css header or in the plugin's header denoting the location on GitHub. API plugins for Bitbucket, GitLab, Gitea, and Gist are available. API plugins are available for a one-click install from the Add-Ons tab. This update reincorporates all functionality into the Git Updater plugin and splits out the API components into individual API plugins. There is a 14-day free trial and a 30-day no questions asked money-back guarantee. Programming is a great creative outlet. As the Git Updater family of products has grown more developers are using it in their workflow and support requests are increasing. I made a decision to rebrand and monetize it.

    Git-FTP

    Git-FTP

Uses Git to upload only changed files to FTP servers

If you use Git and you need to upload your files to an FTP server, Git-ftp can save you some time and bandwidth by uploading only those files that changed since the last upload. It keeps track of the uploaded files by storing the commit id in a log file on the server. It uses Git to determine which local files have changed. You can easily deploy another branch or go back in the Git history to upload an older version. git-ftp was not designed as centralized deployment tool. While a commit is being pushed and uploaded to the FTP server, all files belonging to that revision must remain untouched until git-ftp has successfully finished the upload. Otherwise, the contents of the uploaded file will not match the contents of the file referenced in the commit.

    Gitlogue

    Gitlogue

A cinematic Git commit replay tool for the terminal

Gitlogue provides a fun and creative command-line tool that turns your Git commit history into an animated replay, displaying your commits as if someone were typing the changes in real time with cinematic flair. When you run this tool in the terminal, it visually replays diffs line by line, highlights syntax, and shows changes evolving in a way that feels like watching a code story unfold, which can be entertaining and useful for reviewing history or showcasing progress. It builds on typical Git data but reshapes it into a compelling narrative with visual appeal, making it great for demos, teaching, or just savoring your development journey. The tool is standalone and designed to be easy to install and run, so users don’t need complex setups to enjoy animated commit histories. Gitlogue adds atmosphere and personality to otherwise dry version control logs, and it supports terminal-friendly output that respects your existing workflow.

Gaining advanced insights from Git repository history

Fast, insightful and highly customizable Git history analysis. Hercules is an amazingly fast and highly customizable Git repository analysis engine written in Go. Batteries are included. Powered by go-git. There are two command-line tools: hercules and labours. The first is a program written in Go that takes a Git repository and executes a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) of analysis tasks over the full commit history. The second is a Python script that shows some predefined plots over the collected data. These two tools are normally used together through a pipe. It is possible to write custom analyses using the plugin system. It is also possible to merge several analysis results together - relevant for organizations. The analyzed commit history includes branches, merges, etc. Hercules has been successfully used for several internal projects at source{d}.

    Java API for GitHub

    Java API for GitHub

    Java API for GitHub

This library defines an object oriented representation of the GitHub API. By "object oriented" we mean there are classes that correspond to the domain model of GitHub (such as GHUser and GHRepository), operations that act on them as defined as methods (such as GHUser.follow()), and those object references are used in favor of using string handle (such as GHUser.isMemberOf(GHOrganization) instead of GHUser.isMemberOf(String)) The library supports both github.com and GitHub Enterprise. Most of the GitHub APIs are covered, although there are some corners that are still not yet implemented. The library allows connecting to GitHub via several different authentication mechanisms. This library defines a common convention so that applications using this library will look at a consistent location. In this convention, the library looks at ~/.github property file. The content of the files depends on the way you want this library to authenticate as shown.

    VFS for Git

    VFS for Git

Virtual file system for Git, enable Git at enterprise scale

The Virtual Filesystem for Git (formerly GVFS) is an open source system that enables Git to operate at enterprise-scale. It makes using and managing massive Git repositories possible. VFS for Git virtualizes the filesystem beneath your Git repository so that Git tools see what appears to be a normal repository when, in fact, the files are not actually present on disk. VFS for Git only downloads files as they are needed. VFS for Git also manages Git's internal state so that it only considers the files you have accessed, instead of having to examine every file in the repository. This ensures that operations like status and checkout are as fast as possible. Git struggles to handle enterprise-scale repositories. Operations like cloning will slow to a crawl when you have millions of files in a repository, and even something as simple as getting your repository status will leave you waiting.

    WSLGit

    WSLGit

Use Git installed in Bash on Windows/Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)

This project provides a small executable that forwards all arguments to git running inside Bash on Windows/Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). Use Git installed in Bash on Windows/Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) from Windows and Visual Studio Code (VSCode) The primary reason for this tool is to make the Git plugin in Visual Studio Code (VSCode) work with the git command installed in WSL. For these two to interoperate, this tool translates paths between the Windows (C:\Foo\Bar) and Linux (/mnt/c/Foo/Bar) representations. The install.bat script creates a folder structure similar to the one used by Git For Windows, and creates some useful symbolic links in the wslgit\cmd and wslgit\bin folders. VSCode will find the git executable automatically if the two optional installation steps were taken.

    git-peek

    git-peek

git repo to local editor instantly

git peek is the fastest way to open a remote git repository in your local text editor. Use it when you want to browse or search other people's code with your own editor. Pass git peek a git repository or a github link, and it will quickly fetch and open it in your local editor. It stores the repository in a temporary directory and deletes it when you close the editor or git peek. If you don't pass git peek input, it will let you search Github repositories and show trending repositories. If you paste a link to a file on GitHub, it will quickly open the file in your local editor. If you pass it a GitHub repository, it fetches a tarball instead of using git and decompresses it while downloading it (streaming). From unscientific benchmarks, this is about 2x faster than cloning. While downloading & decompressing the tarball, it also downloads the specific file linked to (or the README.md) via JSDelivr's CDN.

Modern ls command with beautiful Icons and Git Integrations. Written in Golang. This project is built to add esthetics to ls (coreutiles) command. Language agnostic binaries. Git Status Integration. Supporting 600+ files, extensions, and directories. This project is highly inspired by ls(coreutiles) and color ls. The project tries to find a happy path between speed and aesthetics. All supported flags can be found by using help flag $ logo-ls -?. Almost all flags are same as that of the classic ls command and behave similarly. The project can be used as a drop-in replacement for the ls(coreutiles) Nerd fonts are required to display Icons on screen. Basically Nerd Fonts patches your current font i.e., the last few unicode points (approx 2,824 out of 143,859) in the font are replaced with nerdy icons. If you have Golang installed on your system then the logo-ls can be downloaded and installed using the the go cli tool provided by the language.

    octonode

    octonode

    github api v3 in nodejs

octonode is a library for nodejs to access the github v3 API. You can configure the protocol, hostname and port to use. For example to connect to a GitHub Enterprise instance. Request options can be set by setting defaults on the client. (e.g. Proxies). Authenticate to github in cli mode (desktop application) Ensure that the scopes argument is an object containing the required note property. For two-factor authentication add the One Time Password otp key with its corresponding code to the configuration object. If you would like to work with promises rather than callbacks, you can call the promise based version of any of the api calls by appending Async to the function call. If a function is said to be supporting pagination, then that function can be used in many ways as shown below. Results from the function are arranged in pages.

It enhances developer productivity in version-controlled workflows. There is now a Haskell implementation as well, which can be four to six times faster than the Python one. The reason is not that Haskell is faster in itself (although it is), but that this implementation calls git only once. You may redefine the function git_super_status (after the source statement) to adapt it to your needs (to change the order in which the information is displayed).
