...Most file transfer utilities I’ve used encompass two thirds of these qualities. I’ve wanted to make a utility that encompasses all three, without compromising any one of them. A common way to transfer a file is to first upload data to a server, and then, once uploaded, the link is shared with someone who goes to download it. This method is easy, but slow, the transfer rate of the file is half the harmonic mean of the upload and download speeds which makes it slower than either just uploading or downloading. -

This 20 year old project of mine claims to be the smallest internet operating system, written in 100% AVR assembler, that includes everything from Ethernet (RTL8019AS) driver, DLC, ARP, IP, ICMP, TCP streaming to a hardware MP3 decoder chip (VLSI 1001K) and some simple FTP client incl. a little GUI for a 5x7 dot matrix LCD within 3472 bytes Flash ROM of the AVR. Yes only 3.4kbytes of Flash and 64k of external SRAM - not more than this is needed to listen to a MP3 transferred from a FTP server. Please send me a mail if you claim you created a smaller system with the same features and I'll buy you a beer or coffee - LOL. [dedicated to a rat called Nat]
