    SwayFX

    SwayFX

SwayFX: Sway, but with eye candy

Sway is an incredible window manager, and certainly one of the most well established wayland window managers. However, it is restricted to only include the functionality that existed in i3. This fork ditches the simple wlr_renderer, and replaces it with our fx_renderer, capable of rendering with fancy GLES2 effects.

    brightnessctl

    brightnessctl

CLI tool to read and control screen and LED brightness on Linux system

brightnessctl is a lightweight command-line utility written in C that enables users to read and control device brightness on Linux systems. At its core, the tool interacts with brightness interfaces exposed by backlight and LED devices, making it possible to query current brightness, adjust levels, and even restore previously saved states. By default, brightnessctl searches relevant device classes for available brightness controllers and, if no device is specified, automatically selects the first one it finds. This functionality is especially useful for managing screen backlight or LED brightness on laptops and embedded devices without needing heavy graphical tools. The utility also supports advanced options such as machine-readable output, saving/restoring brightness state, and modifying percentage curves, providing flexibility for scripts and automation.

    notion

    notion

    Tabbed, tiling window manager.

Notion is a tiling, tabbed window manager for the X window system: * Tiling: you divide the screen into non-overlapping 'tiles'. Every window occupies one tile, and is maximized to it * Tabbing: a tile may contain multiple windows - they will be 'tabbed' * Static: most tiled window managers are 'dynamic', meaning they automatically resize and move around tiles as windows appear and disappear. Notion, by contrast, does not automatically change the tiling. You're in control. Features include: * Workspaces: each workspace has its own tiling * Multihead: the mod_xinerama plugin provides very nice dual-monitor support * RandR: mod_xrandr expands on mod_xinerama and picks up changes in the randr configuration without the need for restarting Notion * Extensibility: Notion can be extended with lua scripts.

    Rofi

    Rofi

A window switcher, application launcher and dmenu replacement

Rofi started as a clone of the simple switcher, written by Sean Pringle - a popup window switcher roughly based on a super switcher. Simpleswitcher laid the foundations, and therefore Sean Pringle deserves most of the credit for this tool. Rofi (renamed, as it lost the simple property) has been extended with extra features, like an application launcher and ssh-launcher, and can act as a drop-in menu replacement, making it a very versatile tool. Rofi, like dmenu, will provide the user with a textual list of options where one or more can be selected. This can either be running an application, selecting a window, or options provided by an external script. It's not an application that can support every possible use case. It tries to be generic enough to be usable by everybody. Rofi has several built-in modes implementing common use cases and can be extended by scripts (either called from Rofi or calling Rofi) or plugins.

    dwm

    dwm

    dwm for Wayland

dwl is a compact, hackable compositor for Wayland based on wlroots. It is intended to fill the same space in the Wayland world that dwm does in X11, primarily in terms of philosophy, and secondarily in terms of functionality. dwl is not meant to provide every feature under the sun. Instead, like dwm, it sticks to features that are necessary, simple, and straightforward to implement given the base on which it is built. Simple window borders, tags, keybindings, client rules, mouse move/resize. Providing a built-in status bar is an exception to this goal, to avoid dependencies on font rendering and/or drawing libraries when an external bar could work well.
