With this project I intend to write a really, really simple OS, just for fun and learning. I think I will never have a really usable version, as I said, that's no my objective.

OpenBoot is a boot loader supporting multi CPU-architectures. It is configurable and portable, and its source codes are enough clear to read.

The netboot project allows booting a diskless PC over a TCP/IP based network using standard protocols like BOOTP, DHCP and TFTP. It is able to boot Linux, FreeBSD, multiple DOS variants (including MS-DOS, PC-DOS, PTS-DOS, OpenDOS, NovellDOS, FreeDOS)

aboot is the Linux bootloader for Alpha systems using the SRM console. This package also includes the utilities isomarkboot, swriteboot and sdisklabel.

Cloudium OS is being written in pure ASM. It's designed for speed and ease, having cloud computing in mind. It also is secure (without requiring constant user input like Windows). But, how are we going to do this? Well every os wants/says these kind of things, so to accomplish our goals we follow these simple rules: keep it simple (that's way better then these complex interfaces etc. almost nobody wants), generalize (this makes things easier and more useful without extra complexity) and be inventive (sometimes doing it the classical way just doesn't work). UEFI fdisk is a port to UEFI of the famous fdisk partitioning tool from util-linux, see https://github.com/karelzak/util-linux . Now since this program runs directly under UEFI shell you don't need to *boot* the system to edit partition tables.
