mp3splt is a free utility to split mp3, ogg vorbis and FLAC files without decoding, selecting begin/end time; if file is an album, you can get splitpoints automatically from internet or a local cue, cddb file. It also splits Mp3Wrap and AlbumWrap archives. Supports splitting and trimming by silence detection. For mp3 files, both ID3v1 and ID3v2 are supported using original tags or user defined tags.

Audio Tag Tool is a program to manage the tags in MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files. It can be used to edit individual tags, or to easily tag or rename hundreds of files at once, in any desired format. It can also create playlists.

An mpeg 1/2/2.5 audio layer 1,2,3 frame level editor. Allows for cutting, copying, pasting of individual frames, correction of common (correctable) errors, removal of bad frames and more. Quite useful program for maintaining any mp3 collection.

Advanced GTK+ Sequencer is intended to use for music composition. It features a piano roll, as well a synth, matrix editor, drum machine, soundfont2 player, mixer and an output panel. It's designed to be highly configurable, you may add effects to its effect chain, add or remove audio channels/pads. You may set up a fully functional network of engines, therefore exists a link editor for linking audio lines. In conjunction with ags you need a realtime kernel and alsa support. `ags` uses conditional locks to keep several threads in sync that's why you need at least a preemptible kernel.

This application's purpose in life is to take a wave file and break it up into multiple wave files. It makes a clean break at the correct position to burn the files to an audio cd without any dead air between the tracks.

MP3 Tag provides a quick and easy way to add ID3 tags to a large number of un-tagged MP3 sound files. It is console-based, initially developed for Linux.

WavSplit splits large WAV files at given time positions. To find out split positions you can use any WAV player or editor with a time display.

Buzztrax (formerly known as Buzztard) is a music production environment, based on a very modular approach taking many concepts from trackers a step further. It runs under Linux and is compatible to the windows only and close source software Buzz. The backend is using GStreamer as a multimedia framework. ABC is a text-based music notation language. This project aims to promote the ABC music notation language by providing cross-platform, open-source tools for manipulating, displaying and playing (via MIDI) ABC files. This project is here for historic reasons and there is not too much activity now. The abcmidi project is updated more frequently.

Glame is targeted to be the GIMP for audio processing. Glame supports non destructive multitrack editing, recording and mixing; realtime effects using native or LADSPA plugins; OSS, ALSA or SGI audio and WAV, Mp3 and Ogg file formats.
