Today in Tech – 1990

By Community Team

On this day in 1990 the Computer Misuse Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom was officially enforced. This Act was introduced mainly due to a well-publicized case of two men, Robert Schifreen and Stephen Gold, who were able to hack into British Telecom’s Prestel interactive viewdata service using conventional computers and modems in the early 1980s. Several critics later complained that the bill was hastily introduced and poorly thought-out, leading to several amendments. The Act however has also been viewed as a “robust and flexible piece of legislation in terms of dealing with cybercrime,” and has become a basis for many other information security laws around the world.

This is all because that net neutrality in some parts of UK has been imposed with the GDRP. Now, more and more vigilante hackers are doing some things that can expose the UK government or privately owned company. One must do such thing about this as it will cause internet chaos among all it citizen and will cause an uprising.
