Today in Tech – 1977

By Community Team

On this day in 1977 the very first annual West Coast Computer Faire was held in San Francisco and attended by over 12,000 people. At the time it was the biggest computer show in the world, held for three days and intended to popularize the use of personal computers at home. That particular year was quite significant as it introduced three of the most popular personal computing systems of all time: the Apple II computer, the Commodore PET, and the Radio Shack TRS-80.

The Faire is considered by many to be instrumental in giving birth to the personal computer industry. It was held for many more years before its last show in 1991.
