Hi!
Many open source project leaders are more comfortable coding projects than publicizing them. Yet it takes not only good software but also a bit of – dare I say it? – marketing to make a project really popular.
As Director of Community for SourceForge.net, I’ve learned a thing or two about how projects gain users and visibility, and I love sharing what I know with open source developers. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be giving a presentation on Open Source Business for Hackers at ApacheCon US in Oakland, California, being held November 2-6. I’ll talk about how to make money for your efforts, market your software, and harmonize all of that with the ideological needs of your communities.
ApacheCon is a great place for the open source community to get together, complete with events open to the public free of charge. The Apache Software Foundation will also be celebrating its tenth anniversary, so it’s bound to be a good time. It’d be good to see you there.
