Hi,
Since the launch of our Marketplace last week, and all throughout our beta process, I’ve been helping new sellers establish a stronger presence and get better visibility with potential buyers. There are a few things that most sellers can do that can help with this, although they may not be immediately apparent: editing an existing service listing and setting up a Skills Profile.
The process for editing an existing listing is fairly simple, and can only be done if the listing has not had any purchases. To change a listing, follow these steps:
- When you are logged into the SourceForge.net site, click on the “My SF.net” tab.
- Click on the “Listings” link on the line below your name.
- Select the radio button for the listing you want to edit and under the “Status” column, select the status field and change it to “Inactive” and press the “Save Changes” button.
- Once it is inactive, click on the Select radio button at the left of the listing you want to edit.
- Then, under the title that says “Listings”, select the “Edit” button. This allows you to edit your listing for all fields.
- When you’re done editing, click the “Post to SourceForge.net” button to complete the edit.
- To complete and reactivate your listing, select the radio button for the listing you want to edit and under the “Status” column, select the status field and change it to “Active” and select the “Save Changes” button to make your listing available again.
Potential buyers can learn more about a seller by looking over the Skills Profile of a seller. To set up your own Skills Profile, follow these steps:
- Login to SourceForge.net
- Click on the “My SF.net” tab.
- Click on the “Account Options” link on the line below your name.
- Below the “Welcome, USERNAME” line, click on the link labeled: “Edit my skills profile”.
I’ll be writing more articles with tips to get the most out of the Marketplace as more people use the platform. Good luck with your Marketplace presence. I hope these quick tips will help you get going!
Best regards,
