Community Choice Awards Wrap-Up

By

Hello!

It’s been about a week and a half since we announced the winners of our 2009 Community Choice Awards, and I’m pleased to unveil our final program website at http://sourceforge.net/community/cca09.

The final program website contains videos and photos from the live event, a few features on some of the more adventurous SourceForge crew members, and pretty detailed voting breakdowns for each of the categories.

This year’s program was hugely successful in a lot of ways. For example, we had 47,886 nominations and 185,218 votes – up 60% and 27% from 2008, respectively. Our awards party had almost a hundred more people in attendance than last year, and we gave away 21 free tattoos – more than we thought we’d do.

Every year, though, we change the rules a little bit based on what we learned from the year before. Not everything went perfectly this year, with either the program or the live event. I’m starting to solidify what I think should be changed, but I’d be glad to know what everyone else thinks, too. Email me if you have any thoughts – ross at sourceforge.net.

If you nominated a project or voted in our program this year, thanks! If not, you should feel really bad until next year…and then make up for it by making all your friends join in. 🙂

Best,

Ross Turk
