Everyone knows SourceForge is the place for developers to get together, but what happens once everyone’s here? How do development teams form and how do projects find people to work with? SourceForge community member flavourcountry wants to find out, and you can help.
In a recent post in our forums, flavourcountry wrote, “i’m doing some research on how development teams form on Sourceforge–the hope is to understand how to design diffuse communities so that they work better. i’m particularly interested in your experience of finding people to work on projects you’re trying to initiate.”
This enterprising member has created a brief survey designed to collect some preliminary data ahead of a study “that aims to develop better principles for community design.” Initially, the study will focus on the SourceForge community but will eventually expand to include other communities in FOSS.
Survey participants may be asked to elaborate on their answers during a brief interview, so now’s your chance to be heard. What are you waiting for? Go take the survey. Oh, and, flavourcountry, keep us posted on what you learn along the way.
