What this tool does
Windows DNS Changer is a tiny utility for switching the DNS servers your PC uses to resolve domain names. It’s designed to let you point your system to different DNS providers so your web browsing goes through the name servers you prefer.
Recommended alternative (free)
QuickSetDNS is suggested as a no-cost substitute if you want a similar, lightweight option for changing DNS settings quickly.
How the interface works
The program uses a single-panel layout that keeps controls simple and easy to access. From that screen you can pick from a short list of DNS endpoints, including:
- OpenDNS
- Your ISP’s DNS servers (manually entered)
- Google Public DNS
- Sprint DNS
Note: for your provider’s DNS you will need to type in the server addresses yourself.
Installation, options, and simplicity
This app is portable — there’s no setup routine required. It also stays deliberately minimal: there are no advanced configuration menus, which makes it straightforward for basic use.
Drawbacks to consider
One limitation is the absence of any built-in speed tests or benchmarking. The utility won’t compare response times, so you won’t be able to automatically determine which DNS server performs best from within the program.
