Overview of the UTS mobile app
UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) is a free mobile application developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). It provides a fast, digital alternative to physical ticket counters for local and platform tickets, helping passengers avoid long queues by allowing ticket purchases directly from a smartphone.

How to book and use the app
Enable your device GPS before initiating a purchase so the app can verify your location. Ticketing is intended for on-site booking: purchases must be made while you are within a station’s vicinity (booking range is restricted to between 5 km and 20 km of the station premises). The app also displays relevant train schedules and destination details to help plan your journey.
Language and accessibility
The application supports both English and Hindi to accommodate a broad user base, with a simple interface designed for quick transactions.
Eligibility and restrictions
- Users must be 17 years of age or older to use the service.
- Passes or accounts that have been suspended or barred by Indian Railways are not permitted to use the app.
- Note that booking is limited to the permitted geographic range and requires GPS to be active.
