Service summary

Roadrunner Vamonos is a curbside demand-response transit option designed for riders who are unable to use the fixed-route buses in the Roadrunner Transit system. It is provided in accordance with ADA requirements, uses wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and is operated by drivers trained to assist passengers with mobility needs. Rides are scheduled on a shared-ride basis and pick-ups and drop-offs happen at or near the passenger’s origin and destination.

How to register and reserve rides

To enroll, contact Roadrunner Transit’s customer service to complete the registration process. Once registered, you can reserve trips by phone or using the transit agency’s mobile booking options. All journeys must be scheduled in advance rather than performed on demand.

Service area and operating hours

  • The program runs within Las Cruces city limits and extends to selected parts of the Town of Mesilla.
  • Dial-a-Ride is not available on Sundays and is closed on certain holidays.
  • Vehicles follow a curb-to-curb pick-up model; passengers should be ready at a safe parking area when the vehicle arrives.
  • There is typically a required interval between booked rides (for example, a 45-minute gap may be enforced).
  • Expect a pick-up window rather than an exact minute: the vehicle may arrive within about 30 minutes of the scheduled time and will wait approximately five minutes at the pickup location.

Rules and trip limitations

  • Trips are shared with other passengers, so routes and timing may be adjusted to accommodate multiple riders.
  • Drivers will not make additional stops such as drive-throughs, and drop-off locations cannot be changed once the trip has started.
  • The service does not pause for extra waiting during the course of a single trip for additional pickups or drop-offs.

Advantages of using the service

The program helps riders who need accessible transportation, reduces the need for private vehicle use, and supports lower per-passenger costs and reduced vehicle emissions through ride-sharing.

Alternative option

If you prefer another choice, services like Ola Driver Free (or similar app-based ride alternatives) are sometimes suggested as alternatives for local, non-ADA trips — check availability, pricing, and accessibility features before booking.
