Game snapshot
Rayman Adventure for mobile blends traditional console-style platforming with the pick-up-and-play nature of earlier phone-based Rayman titles. The core tap-and-swipe controls remain, but this entry gives you finer control over where your character moves, which changes the pacing and feel compared with the simpler endless-runner entries.
How it plays
At first the controls can feel fiddly. A single swipe sends your chosen character — whether Rayman, Barbara or another unlocked hero — moving in the intended direction. Taps make them jump or ricochet off walls, and additional swipes trigger attacks. A backward swipe reverses direction mid-run, a small tweak that has a big impact: runs slow down and require more deliberate navigation, so the quick, breakneck rhythm of the earlier mobile games is reduced.
- Jump, bounce and wall-kick to reach distant platforms.
- Swipe to move and to strike enemies.
- Swipe back to change direction during a run.
Vertical exploration and secrets
The game compensates for the lost twitchiness by encouraging exploration. Levels are built with more vertical layers, so you’ll often find yourself climbing through the scenery to uncover hidden collectibles. Companion characters will sometimes hint at nearby treasures and can grant short boosts — for example, temporary invulnerability — to help you reach them.
Economy and progression
These helper characters come with an upkeep mechanic: you need to feed them to bring them along, which is where the game’s in-app purchases appear. When you run out of food you can either grind to earn more or opt to buy it.
- Progression generally moves at a fair clip without spending money.
- Consumables and character upkeep can create friction unless you grind or purchase resources.
Presentation and atmosphere
Where the game really shines is in its presentation. The environments are colorful and richly detailed, and the soundtrack is upbeat and infectious — a pairing that makes traversal genuinely enjoyable even when the mechanics feel like a compromise between two styles.
Verdict
Rayman Adventure is an in-between experiment: not quite the open, exploration-focused console experience and not the pure, twitch-based endless runner. Despite the awkwardness of the more involved touch controls, the art, music, and core platforming moments make it an attractive and entertaining mobile title.
