Quick summary

Rayman Adventures takes the franchise in a new direction on phones: it blends the richer, more exploratory elements of the console entries with the tap-and-swipe arcade feel of the earlier mobile endless-runners. The familiar touch controls are still present, but you now have more direct control over horizontal and vertical movement, which changes the pace and shape of each run.

How the controls work and what changes

The basic gestures remain recognizable — swipes and taps drive movement and attacks — but their effect has been expanded. A single swipe sends Rayman, Barbara the Barbarian, or another chosen hero in a direction, while additional swipes trigger attacks and taps make characters jump or rebound off walls. Swiping backward reverses direction, which is a small change that meaningfully alters how levels play out: runs feel less frantic but more deliberate, and attempts tend to last longer.

Exploration and level design

Unlike the strictly linear, speed-focused mobile titles, Adventures adds more verticality and hidden paths. Levels encourage climbing and searching: you’ll often hop higher and discover multiple tucked-away treasures above the obvious route. New companion characters help point out collectibles and occasionally grant short buffs like temporary invulnerability.

Progression, pacing, and purchases

Companions require food to accompany you on runs; when supplies run out you either grind to earn more or spend real money. Although microtransactions can slow your forward momentum, the game generally allows steady progress without forcing purchases. The strongest draw remains moving through beautifully crafted environments while the uplifting soundtrack keeps the pace light.

Key features at a glance

  • Expanded movement control with both horizontal and vertical inputs
  • New characters that assist and offer short boosts
  • Increased emphasis on exploration and hidden collectibles

Notable highlights

  • Beautifully designed levels and strong musical score
  • Less frantic tempo compared with earlier endless-runners
  • Microtransactions for companion upkeep, balanced by reasonable free progression

Final impression

Rayman Adventures is an in-between entry: not quite the twitch-led endless-runner and not fully the open-platforming found on consoles. It may feel awkward at first if you expect the old rapid runs, but its core platforming moments, vibrant visuals, and cheerful music make it an enjoyable and attractive mobile experience.
