Overview
PopClip gives macOS users a faster way to work with selected text. Instead of using the contextual menu or keyboard shortcuts, a compact pop-up appears when you drag to highlight text, offering common actions and helpful extensions.
How it behaves
When you highlight text with the mouse, a small action bar appears next to the selection so you can quickly copy, paste or run installed add-ons (for example, sending content to Evernote). If the selected string is a URL, email address or file path, PopClip can open it directly. It also offers spelling corrections, one-click web searches and quick dictionary lookups.
Key features
- Instant spelling suggestions and corrections
- One-tap web searches and access to definitions
- Direct opening of URLs, email addresses or file paths from a selection
- Quick copy/paste and support for extensions such as sending to Evernote
Compatibility and important note
PopClip enhances many apps but is not compatible with every editor. After installing the update, PopClip will no longer show when selecting text inside certain office suites and related applications. For details and the full list of affected programs, see http://plt.mn/LEXd
Recent fixes and improvements
- Fixed an issue where Search failed on single-character selections
- Resolved a rare crash or hang condition
- Improved compatibility with some clipboard manager utilities
- Addressed crashes in OpenOffice, LibreOffice, NeoOffice and KeePassX when used together with PopClip

Suggested alternative
If you need a more full-featured text editor that integrates deeply with macOS and provides advanced document functionality, consider Microsoft Word (commercial).
