App overview
PdaNet is an Android utility that enables a phone to share its mobile internet connection with laptops, tablets, and other devices. Version 5.10 adds a Wi‑Fi Direct hotspot mode (requires Android 4.1 or newer), expanding the ways you can get online from non-phone devices.
Supported connection methods
- Wi‑Fi Direct hotspot — a new option in 5.10 for devices running Android 4.1+.
- Bluetooth tethering — a wireless alternative when Wi‑Fi or USB aren’t suitable.
- USB tethering — a wired connection that can be useful when stability or battery saving is a priority.
Note: The original Wi‑Fi hotspot capability is now offered separately via the FoxFi app for users who need that legacy functionality.
Free edition and paid upgrade
PdaNet provides a free version that limits continuous usage to allow testing the app before purchasing. If you rely on the tool regularly, a paid unlock removes those timed restrictions and restores full, uninterrupted access.
Who benefits from it
This tool is especially helpful for people whose carriers block or restrict the native mobile hotspot feature on their data plans. It gives a practical workaround to share mobile data with computers and tablets when the built‑in tethering options are unavailable.
Limitations and compatibility considerations
- It is not designed to support game consoles or streaming TV boxes; those devices may not work reliably.
- Actual performance and availability of features depend on your carrier’s rules and the specific Android device you’re using.
- Some functions that used to be built into PdaNet are split into companion apps (for example, FoxFi for the older hotspot feature).
