App snapshot
ODialer is the native telephone app bundled with ColorOS, the custom Android interface used on Oppo phones and tablets. It delivers the same visual language as the operating system and offers a set of calling tools built specifically for these devices.
Look and interaction
The interface follows ColorOS’s design motifs and presents a tidy call log that groups entries and displays contact names, numbers and timestamps. Compared with the Google Phone app, ODialer leans toward a brighter, more colorful presentation that matches the rest of the overlay.
Device compatibility and interchangeability
Although designed for Oppo hardware, ODialer is also usable on some sister-brand models, including OnePlus handsets running OxygenOS. The layout and controls are similar enough to their native dialer that the transition is usually quick for users familiar with OxygenOS.
Principal features
- Automatic AI transcription for calls (introduced in version 16), which can convert conversations into text without manual note-taking.
- Built-in call recording that functions on ColorOS and many OxygenOS devices, useful where Google's recorder isn’t available.
- A categorized history view that gives clear details about callers and call times.
- A visual treatment and color scheme that integrates tightly with the ColorOS aesthetic.
Known limitations and problems
- Some users report occasional app crashes and unexpected call drops.
- Call recording remains unavailable in certain regions, limiting its usefulness for some users.
- Management tools for recorded calls are notably sparse, making organization and export harder than expected.
Practical recommendation
If you own an Oppo device the dialer is already installed — keep it updated to receive new features and fixes. If you’re on a compatible OnePlus device and prefer the ColorOS look-and-feel, you can install ODialer to get a unified visual and functional experience.
