Central entertainment center for Apple users

iTunes (64-bit) is the version built for modern 64-bit Windows machines that brings together music, movies, and TV shows in a single application. Through it you can purchase or rent films, download episodes of favorite series, and keep all your digital purchases and imports in one place for easy access.

Library management, imports, and Apple Music

The app lets you consolidate physical collections by importing audio from CDs and videos from DVDs into your personal library. It also serves as the gateway to Apple Music — a subscription service with millions of tracks spanning older classics to current releases. Apple Music subscribers get ad-free playback, the ability to save tracks for offline listening, and a trial period is often available with the option to cancel at any time.

Play and sync across devices

iTunes integrates with iCloud so your library can be reached from multiple devices, and it can sync media to iPhones, iPads, and other compatibles. Playback isn’t limited to the computer: you can send audio to connected speakers or any AirPlay-capable hardware (for example, HomePod mini) for listening around the home.

Hardware and playback requirements

  • 1080p HD video playback: requires a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster, about 2 GB of RAM, and a GPU at least on par with Intel GMA X4500HD, ATI Radeon HD 2400, or NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS.
  • Note: tracks streamed from Apple Music cannot be written to an audio CD.
  • General minimum: a PC with a 1 GHz Intel or AMD processor that supports SSE2 and at least 512 MB of RAM for basic operation.
  • 720p HD video playback: needs a 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or better, 1 GB of RAM, and graphics equivalent to Intel GMA X3000, ATI Radeon X1300, or NVIDIA GeForce 6150.
  • Standard‑definition video from the iTunes Store: requires an Intel Pentium D (or faster), 512 MB of RAM, and a DirectX 9.0–compatible video card.
  • Display and extras: the app needs a minimum screen resolution of 1024×768; to view iTunes LPs or iTunes Extras you’ll need 1280×800 or higher.
  • Audio, network, and disc writing: a 16‑bit sound card and speakers are required for sound output, and an internet connection is necessary to use Apple Music, the iTunes Store, and Extras. An iTunes-compatible CD/DVD recorder is required to burn audio CDs, MP3 CDs, or backups (again, Apple Music tracks are not burnable).

Why the 64-bit edition still matters

The 64-bit iTunes combines local media, purchased and rented content, Apple Music streaming, and device synchronization into one application. With AirPlay and iCloud support, it makes it simple to organize, play, and move your media between devices — provided your computer meets the noted hardware and network requirements.
