BurnAware is a lightweight disc-burning application for creating CDs, DVDs and Blu‑Ray discs. A paid Premium edition is available with a trial period, but the core free version covers the majority of everyday burning needs without the bulk of larger suites.

User interface and workflow

• A step-driven wizard guides you through common tasks so you can pick the right operation quickly.
• You can add items either by using the program’s file/folder browser or simply dragging files onto the window.
• The program’s lower toolbar contains a selector for target media size (for example: CD, single-layer DVD, dual-layer DVD, or Blu‑Ray).

What you can do with it

• Create standard data discs, audio CDs, DVD‑video discs and burn ISO images.
• Use multi-session discs, erase rewritable media, and run a write simulation before the actual burn.
• The app supports common disc formats including Blu‑Ray and dual-layer DVDs for larger projects.

Limitations

While straightforward and easy to learn, BurnAware does not expose a deep, advanced settings panel for fine-tuning recorder parameters or squeezing every last megabyte of capacity from some media. For most users, however, the available options are sufficient and simple to use.

Recent fixes and enhancements

• Addressed an issue preventing the program from running correctly under certain Windows emulation environments.
• Corrected problems that caused some MP3 tag fields to be read incorrectly when creating CD‑Text entries.
• Fixed a sporadic “CD‑Text tag error” that could occur when opening Audio CDs via the Data Recovery tool.
