Overview of Gaia Sky

Gaia Sky is a free, open-source astronomy visualization tool for Windows that renders a realistic, three-dimensional model of the cosmos on your computer. It lets you inspect everything from distant galaxies down to nearby small bodies in real time, presenting an immersive view of the universe suitable for education, demonstrations, or casual exploration.

Setting up the Simulation

The first launch guides you through acquiring the datasets needed to build the virtual universe on your machine. The installer starts with the solar system data and then lets you fetch optional high-resolution textures and catalogs for planets, moons, stars, and more, so you can expand visual fidelity as desired.

Moving Around the Sky

Gaia Sky supports multiple input methods for navigation, including gamepad controllers as well as keyboard and mouse controls.
