Quick summary
Fake Text Message is a free lifestyle app that generates simulated SMS conversations on your device. You can create believable-looking texts by choosing the sender’s name and composing the message body, then have that message appear on your phone after a set delay. The app keeps a record of the mock conversations so you can reuse or review what you’ve created.
How to schedule a simulated text
- Choose when the message should arrive and hit Schedule — there’s a custom delay option, but it only accepts minutes.
- Enter the name you want to appear as the sender and type the content of the fake message.
- Pick whether the message should be shown as incoming or outgoing.
- Save the entry if you plan to reuse the same sender and text later, or cancel the scheduled item to make edits before it is delivered.
Conversation history and replying
All of the mock exchanges you create are stored in the app’s Message History. Each entry shows the sender name and the messages associated with that contact so you can quickly pick up or reuse previous scenarios.
When the scheduled fake text arrives you’ll be taken into a chat view. From there you can respond, but only from the receiver’s side — the app does not let you send a fabricated reply that appears to come from the other person without scheduling a separate message.
Known limitations and tips
- The in-chat call icon is nonfunctional and does not place a simulated call.
- Custom delivery times can only be specified in minute increments; there is no seconds or hour/minute mix.
- If you want an exchange that includes a follow-up from the “sender,” schedule a second fake message rather than trying to reply as the sender from the chat screen.
Practical uses
Use the app to create an excuse when you need a believable interruption: schedule a message from a boss, family member, or friend that appears urgent and time it for when you need an exit. Keep saved templates for commonly used contacts to speed up setup in future situations.
