What Close Global does
Close Global is a web-based video conferencing service that lets people hold live meetings using webcams and audio devices. You can run a session as the organizer, or join as a participant when invited. Meeting creators control who may enter each room; invited guests must receive permission from the organizer before joining a conference.
Free alternative option
If you prefer a no-cost option for simple broadcasting or live video, consider YouTube Live as a readily available alternative.
Required software and equipment
The Close Global service is delivered as a combined application and cloud service — the client software works together with Close Global’s servers to host meetings. In addition to the app and online service, the following hardware is typically needed:
- Webcam
- Speakers or headphones
- Microphone
Many laptops and smartphones already include these components, and Close Global supports a range of mobile devices as well as desktops.
Getting started and common configuration fixes
The interface and menus are generally straightforward when you sign in, but the trickiest part is getting your camera and audio devices configured correctly. Often the issue lies outside the app — in your computer’s operating system or mobile device settings — so you may need to:
- Check microphone permissions and input levels
- Select the correct webcam in Close Global’s device menu
- Verify speaker or headphone output and mute settings
- Update drivers or restart the device if a peripheral isn’t detected
If you run into problems, first confirm the device is visible to the operating system, then make the corresponding selection inside the Close Global client.
Working with multiple meeting rooms
Close Global allows creating more than one virtual room, so teams can run separate sessions simultaneously. As the organizer you can open and manage multiple rooms, and you (or collaborators with permission) can move between rooms to monitor progress or drop in on different discussions.
