Chained Backrooms

Chained Backrooms is a four-player survival horror with roguelike elements that forces cooperative play by literally connecting all characters with a single physical chain. Players must coordinate movement and actions, manage sanity, complete short-term objectives, and navigate procedurally altered rooms while avoiding lethal threats and permanent death. Proximity-based voice, shifting layouts, and surreal visuals and soundscapes create tension and emergent, coordination-heavy gameplay. Players report limited procedural variety, technical rough edges, and an overall sense of incompleteness, which can make the experience feel repetitive or unpolished. The game will appeal to groups who enjoy high-risk, teamwork-focused survival and extracting strategies from punishing systems; it will frustrate solo players, those seeking a polished narrative-driven title, or anyone bothered by bugs and limited level variety. Consider other cooperative horror games with less punitive death systems or more handcrafted levels if those issues are a concern.

We Were Here Together

We Were Here Together is a cooperative two-player first-person escape-room adventure set in a remote, icy stronghold where partners are separated and must rely on limited communication to solve interconnected puzzles. This entry expands the formula with more content, an inventory system for carrying and placing multiple items, longer play sessions, individual narrative threads for each player, and improved visuals and sound. The puzzle design is varied—some are clever, others feel too simple or need fiddly trial-and-error—so pacing and enjoyment can fluctuate. Overall it’s a solid option for players who enjoy communication-focused teamwork and puzzle-solving: the added scope and new interactions reward both returning fans and newcomers, despite an occasionally opaque story and a few rough edges.

Climb Remastered for MORDHAU

Climb Remastered is a free utility that smooths and refines how characters scale terrain and obstacles, making vertical movement feel more fluid and reliable. It improves movement responsiveness, reduces awkward hops and pauses, makes climbing interactions more consistent, and helps players reposition quickly during encounters that involve ledges, slopes or stairwells. The tool is useful for anyone who frequently navigates complex map geometry or engages in combat that depends on reliable vertical movement—both casual and competitive players can benefit. It is distributed under a free license and available to those who want cleaner, less frustrating climbing behavior.

Stuck Together

Stuck Together is a premium 2D side-scrolling cooperative platformer where two glued-together toys — a horse and a duck — must work together to navigate hazards and escape their hostile owner. Gameplay centers on physics-driven climbing and pendulum-style swinging through short, focused areas that introduce new mechanics, hazards, and interactive items as you progress; some sequences include timed quick‑time interactions that add tension. The game emphasizes teamwork and timing, with tangible physics that make traversal feel meaningful and often humorous, and varied traps and props that keep encounters fresh. A few abrupt difficulty spikes and interruptive timed attacks can disrupt flow, but overall it rewards communication and coordination. If you enjoy physics-based co-op puzzles and quirky premises, it’s worth trying; for a very different cooperative, creative experience consider an open-ended building-focused game like Minecraft.

Climb The Backrooms

Climb The Backrooms is a paid adventure that blends unsettling, imaginative level design with brain-teasing puzzles and tactile, physics-driven object interactions. Levels encourage exploration, stealth, evasion or confrontation with patrolling enemies, and cooperative play for up to four players enhances the social problem-solving — though teamwork can be hampered by occasional network desyncs. Some stages have sharp difficulty spikes and moments that demand precise timing, which can lead to frustration. Overall it’s a compelling mix of atmosphere, inventive puzzles and cooperative play despite rough edges in balance and online stability; if you like physics-oriented puzzle design, consider the similarly focused Chordosis as an alternative.

White Knuckle

White Knuckle is a first-person roguelite that combines speed-focused climbing and sprinting with slow-burning survival horror. Momentum-based movement and quick reflexes are central: chaining grabs, avoiding encumbrance, and managing a limited inventory are constantly tested while minimalist, environmental storytelling and unseen pursuers create a claustrophobic, tense atmosphere that favors sustained dread over jump scares. The climbing mechanics and audiovisual design are distinctive and rewarding once mastered, and recent updates have improved performance and added a constrained save-and-exit option. Downsides include a harsh save system, limited meta-progression that can make repeated runs feel repetitive, and occasional collision or physics issues and pacing problems in later acts that can disrupt flow. If you like twitchy, momentum-driven gameplay wrapped in a bleak, story-light world, it’s worth trying, but expect demanding run structure and some technical rough edges.

ESCAPE Protocol : Online Demo

ESCAPE Protocol: Online Demo is a cooperative survival-horror experience set inside a collapsing, reality-warped facility where shifting corridors, erratic gravity, and sound- and movement-sensitive enemies force careful teamwork. Runs are kept unpredictable by procedurally changing maps and randomized puzzles, and a hidden saboteur mechanic adds tension and mistrust as players coordinate to solve environmental challenges and escape. The demo nails a tense, unsettling atmosphere with emergent scares in close cooperative play, but it remains rough around the edges: minimal guidance, a buggy tutorial that can soft-lock progress, and abrupt or unavoidable deaths hamper the experience; some players also find the use of AI-generated storefront art immersion-breaking. Try it if you enjoy experimental, team-based survival horror and can tolerate instability; if you prefer a polished, fully realized product, consider waiting for further development.

Lunch Lady

Lunch Lady is a 3D survival-horror about prankish students breaking into a school to steal ten scattered exam pages while a murderous lunch lady stalks the halls. Playable in cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, the objective is to search the building, find keys and pages, and escape; the enemy’s presence is tied to player movement and becomes faster and more aggressive the more pages a player carries. The game emphasizes tension and replayability through randomized item and enemy placement and a progression system that unlocks characters. Encounters are nerve‑wracking thanks to ominous audio and proximity voice chat, but can be undermined by rough character models and sometimes erratic AI behavior—catch radii and incapacitation mechanics (requiring medkits or teammate revives) can feel frustrating to some players. Overall it delivers unpredictable, suspenseful multiplayer runs with a few rough edges.

Farever

Farever is a vibrant action-adventure RPG set in the layered world of Siagarta, offering a large, colorful open world of secret caverns, dungeons and multi-tiered terrain where you play as one of many inhabitants shaping your own path. Combat is fast and responsive with deep customization—mix-and-match weapons, class perks and skill trees, weapon synergies and ability combos let you craft melee, ranged or hybrid builds. A robust gathering and crafting loop supports long-term specialization, letting you refine materials into gear and consumables, learn trade skills and unlock unique recipes that meaningfully impact progression. Vertical traversal and environmental movement—climbing, diving, gliding and hidden routes—reward exploration and support both solo and cooperative play. Some systems need polish: inventory and item management can feel cumbersome and certain traversal mechanics are occasionally awkward, but the game’s charm, variety and content depth generally outweigh these issues. It’s well suited to players who enjoy open-ended exploration, emergent storytelling and cooperative action-RPG play; for a very different open-world experience, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas offers an urban sandbox alternative.

Bonk It!

Bonk It! is a lighthearted climbing challenge where players start in a cauldron and use a hammer to work past hazards and platforms, aiming to ascend as far as possible in short, tense runs. Gameplay centers on timed hammer swings to clear obstacles and push upward, recovering from tumbles, and balancing precision and momentum across increasingly tricky sections; it supports solo runs for improvement and score-chasing as well as chaotic multiplayer sessions. The game’s playful tone and simple controls hide strategic depth, encouraging learning through mistakes and repeated attempts; its slapstick physics and easy-to-learn, hard-to-master design make it a satisfying pick for social or competitive play. Alternatives with similar platforming or climbing focus include Terraria, Minecraft, and Celeste.

Way of the Dragons

Way of the Dragons is a physics-driven platformer in which players control small dragons that have fallen from their nests and must climb, fly, and fight back to the mother's lair at the top of each level. Gameplay emphasizes precise movement through vertical climbing, airborne maneuvers and parkour-like obstacles, with hazards to avoid and fire-based actions to use against rivals; its presentation combines realistic 3D visuals with a lighthearted, comedic tone. The game centers on multiplayer interaction, offering cooperative and chaotic competitive matches where mid-air scrambles, tossing and burning opponents, and timed jumps create memorable moments, though it can be played solo. Similar experiences include Gang Beasts and Minecraft.

Bonfire Peaks

Bonfire Peaks is an atmospheric, exploration-focused puzzle game built around climbing and vertical traversal. Players scale layered ruins, plan routes, manipulate the environment, and solve environmental riddles; levels reward curiosity, spatial reasoning, and experimentation. A distinctive hazard—combustible equipment or flares—forces you to adapt strategy as conditions change during ascents. With thoughtful level design that encourages route-finding and observational play, it delivers a deliberate, memorable blend of exploration and inventive puzzle mechanics. For a different, more compact puzzle experience, try Chuzzle as an alternative.
