Snapshot of the game
Angry Birds is a casual physics-puzzle where a flock of furious birds launch themselves at a troop of green pigs who have stolen their eggs. The Windows edition mirrors the popular mobile releases and delivers the same blend of simple mechanics and highly replayable levels.
Available platforms:
- iOS
- Android
- Windows
How the game works
Players sling birds using a virtual catapult to destroy pig-occupied structures. Each stage presents a new arrangement of blocks, beams, and pigs; your goal is to eliminate the pigs while using as few birds as possible. There are 120 distinct stages to work through, offering plenty of puzzles and escalating difficulty.
Controls and strategy
Use the mouse to set the launch angle and force, then release to send a bird arcing toward the targets. Some basic tactics:
- Aim for structural weak points to topple entire fortresses and take out multiple pigs at once.
- Target pigs directly when you can get a clear shot to conserve birds.
- Learn the special behavior of each bird type to maximize damage on complex builds.
Presentation: art and audio
The visuals are bright, cartoon-like, and filled with small visual jokes that suit the lighthearted tone. Sound effects are faithful to the series’ style, though repeated noises may become grating after extended play sessions.
Final thoughts
Angry Birds offers an uncomplicated premise executed very well — addictive, quick-to-learn puzzles with satisfying physics. If you enjoyed the mobile releases, the Windows version retains the charm and replay value that made the franchise a hit.
