Overview
Adblock Plus is a lightweight Firefox extension designed to remove advertisements from web pages, making browsing cleaner and less distracting. The add-on places a small red icon in the top-right corner of the browser toolbar for quick access.
Getting started
Clicking the red icon opens a list of items on the current page that can be blocked; a drop-down menu provides additional settings and customization. To function properly, Adblock Plus relies on an advertising filter. Detailed guidance for choosing the best filter is available on the program’s website, but you can also pick specific elements to block yourself if you prefer manual control.
How it works and troubleshooting
Adblock Plus detects elements identified as ads and prevents them from rendering on the page. There is a possibility of legitimate content being misidentified and blocked, though tests did not produce such false positives. If a useful element is blocked accidentally, the extension’s documentation explains how to restore it and covers most other support questions.
The ad-free browsing experience
Viewing sites without adverts can feel unusual at first — some pages may appear sparser than you remember. If you like a cleaner, distraction-free web, Adblock Plus is a solid choice.
