    I tried that solution. Sort of worked, but, stopped other highlighting working doesn't extend the highlighting across linebreaks (major flaw; makes it unusable) if a note begins with a \cite, then only the arguments of the cite get highlighted. In short, still not quite good enough. This is a major issue for academic writters. @Tim, I know you keep saying that you don't have time to walk nubes through this code, and I get it. But could you or someone just do it; publish a tex.qnfa file that's up-to-date...
