So simple, I had no idea. :). Thanks! Works fine here as well.

The zip file you downloaded gets unpackaged into an .app file. When you double clicked on it, your system probably "unzipped" it and put a copy of the .app somewhere. This article has notes about both zipping and unzipping: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-and-folders-on-a-mac-2260188 But it should put the uncompressed file in the Downloads folder if that is where your zip file was. You should copy the .app file into your Applications folder. The first time you run it, you may...

The file is attached. The first two (and some others mixed in) are the problem entries. I had written about it here: https://sourceforge.net/p/easyabc/tickets/23/?page=1&limit=25#4135 He mentioned it was address in his Github issue #9: https://github.com/jw35/EasyABC/issues/9 I don't know if the version you used incorporates that or not. Thanks for looking into it! Steve

I'd love to be able to build it, there were missing pieces I couldn't locate the last time I tried, some library but I can't remember at the moment. This version seems to have the same problem loading UTF-8 text as before, I have files with Russian text and I can input them fine but when I reload the files the UTF encoded characters do not display properly. I don't know if that can be easily fixed or not.

THRILLED that this release also works for me in Catalina! WooHoo!!!!

Thanks! I had forgotten about this, honestly. I believe that I did a clean re-load of my system and it worked, so it may have been a configuration error on my part. However, I am now running Catalina becuase I had to upgrade computers and it was pre-loaded. It doesn't load on Catalina, but that may be due to 32-bit components, or as you say an updated SDL may fix it. Thanks for making a note, I will watch for a future update.

Thanks, Jon, I think the issue is that I never closed the program since I started working on that file so I hadn't realized the file-open was already not working properly. BTW: I see some work on FluidSynth2 support over at https://github.com/jwdj/EasyABC -- do you have a way to bring those changes over to your fork and see if it helps the playback situation? I'd love to jump in and see if I could help, but as you noted there area. lot of moving parts and I haven't looked at wx or Python in a long...

I was working on building up a collection of Russian folk songs, and came back to it today to find that EasyABC is not displaying Unicode characters, but rather is showing the two-byte representation. Don't understand why, it is the same version of the software. I did install the public beta of 10.15.4 Beta (19E224g) so it may be related to that... Just FYI, probably nothing to be done about it. Strange, a new document works fine, and if I open that .abc file in TextEdit it displays fine. If I paste...
