When ff_acm.acm is installed both Winamp and GSpot give
a "failed to initialize" error when starting.
I found this fix:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AudioCompressionManager\DriverCache\msacm.avis]
"fdwSupport"=dword:00000001
"cFormatTags"=dword:00000002
"aFormatTagCache"=hex:01,00,00,00,10,00,00,00,13,33,00,00,12,00,00,00
"cFilterTags"=dword:00000000
If I import these keys, then both programs run ok again.
Normally these keys should be automatically created
when they are not yet present. It does so for every
other acm codec on my system if I remove their cache
keys and start for example Winamp. But it does not
create the keys for ff_acm.acm, it gives the error instead.
GSpot also lists ff_acm.acm as broken (missing file)
when I view the list of installed filters and codecs.
But the file is there. This is regardless of the keys
mentioned above being present or not.
So something is broken with ff_acm.acm.
The Windows device manager however, doesn't list it as
broken.

At least some bugs should be fixed: crash in Winamp and file
information in GSpot. However, winamp is still unable to
play AVIS WAV files, on the other side, foobar2000 play them
correctly now.
