Impossible to record screencast with new libtheora
Status: Alpha

The new libtheora - codename Thusnelda - does not work with recordmydesktop 0.3.8.1. This is probably a problem of recordmydesktop. Please read:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=525155
I can confirm this issue.

in the fedora forums it says that if you put the bitrate of the video up to 2,000,000 that the video records much much better but at times it still gets a tiny bit laggy at times.
they believe the issues is with recordmydesktop and not libtheora... you would have to read the fedora bugzilla to see exactly what they are talking about
but the solution above did work for me
I have the same Problem, in openSUSE 11.2 it worked (mediainfo: libTheora 3.2.1), In 11.3 it didn't work (Mediainfo: Xiph.Org libtheora 1.1 20090822 (Thusnelda)).
The latest version it work with is: libtheora 1.0.0-2.5 (can found in the openSUSE 11.2 standard RePo).
Confirmed with gentoo and kde.
This has been fixed in the new GitHub project and will be included in the next
release. The project can now be found here:
