DownloadA base installation of Lubuntu 14.04, with all updates/patches, themes, and visual tweaks to make it look as much like WinXP as possible, including:
- WinXP themes (blue, olive & silver XP defaults)
- Windows wallpaper background
- Windows start menu buttons
- removal of all virtual desktops, leaving the user with ONE to work with (just like WinXP)
No additional tweaks are necessary post-installation. This is a "turnkey" solution for a linux distro that is user-friendly to a user of WinXP.

I just installed XPubuntu on my 5th computer (Dell Inspiron 530s & 3 other laptops, & 1 more Desktop). I've replaced XP, Windows 7, and this last one; Windows 10. Windows 10 is a METRO nightmare! I Could'nt navigate at all, felt totally lost; could'nt find "simple" programs like text editing, felt like i was in a LEGO's nightmare; -more confused than Bruce Jenner! I absolutely love XPubuntu! Everything is where it should be, it starts up fast & shuts down faster, and is like going back home to the town I grew up in, everything has its place & I know where everything is. Its a shame that I paid 50-100 dollars for the Windows 10 that came with the Desktop; its such a waste all around, and to cram it down our throats; -Honestly, Microsoft could'nt screw it up more perfectly if the tried. I could'nt wait to get rid of it. My family absolutely WILL NOT USE LINUX unless it looks like XP! They do not want to re-learn computers after so many years with 95,98,ME,2000 & XP. They won't do it, -I've tried! (But they really HATE Vista, win7, win8 and win10 much more. -especially 8 & 10!). All we use now is XPubuntu! I have it loaded up with Wine, Games, Office, Dosbox & Emulators, Rippers & Players, and Audio/Video stuff. My folks adore XPubuntu & don't even dual-boot Windows, and say its BETTER than Windows EVER was with the extra stuff. They just used Windows all those years for Surfing the Web & playing games. Now they use XPubuntu for everything (things they never used Windows for). -Very Happy Linux user (and family using it too) in Ohio! -Chip. Huron, Ohio.
