StackOps Distro Version 1.0.1 (ESSEX) 1.- What is Stackops Distro --------------------------- It is a complete, ready to use Openstack Nova distribution verified, tested and designed to reach as many users as possible thanks to a new and simple installation process. Stackops democratizes the cloud computing technology to companies of all sizes and sectors. You only need to download the ISO image with the distro from our site and install it on as many servers as you require. In a few minutes you will be able to enjoy the power of the Cloud for your own! Nova is the Cloud Computing platform formerly developed by NASA for their service Nebula. NASA searched something highly scalable: one million servers or 60 million virtual machines. Since they could not find an open project that served their purpose, they decided to build it from the scratch. In July 2010, NASA opened the code giving birth to Openstack NOVA. It is a completely open alternative under the umbrella of Rackspace and an important set of industry players. It is not a product but a 'Framework', which means it can be modified to suit any clients needs. All the code is, of course, available under the Apache 2.0 license. The StackOps Distro packs this toolkit in a way that makes it easy to install and set up. It is based on a Linux distribution modified to contain exclusively the components required to make Openstack Nova run. By March 2011, this distribution is in the starting line, and will evolve to fulfill the goals set from Stackops. 2.- How to install ------------------ Please check if your system and network is suitable for Openstack Stackops Distro. CD installation. You have to download and burn the ISO image in a CD and start the installation process just like any Operating System or Bare-Metal product. The ISO file to download is stackops-A.B-C-bXXX-dYYYYMMDD.iso, and the MD5 checksum file is stackops-A.B-C-bXXX-dYYYYMMDD.iso.md5 You have full details in our documentation website: http://docs.stackops.org Have fun!
