SpecTcl is a WYSIWYG GUI-Builder for Tcl/Tk, with sibblings for generating code in Perl, Java, Python & Ruby. It runs on all platforms where Tcl/Tk runs. It is simple and quick to use, yet still powerful when you know your Tcl/Tk.

Cons: -Debian package is called spectcl, but the command to invoke after install is 'specTcl' and it is not explained in documentation. -when typed 'specTcl' in shell, it says couln't find main.tk. The file (by default) is placed in wrong place (in /usr/share/SpecTcl/SpecTcl instead of /usr/share/SpecTcl) -Solved issues above, the software aks for the language, and in any option says "SpecTcl start-up error: invalid command name "._check_" -Just a lost of time :-/

One star for this user. Forgot about the fact that it only works on the power PC Mac's. That was a long time ago--everything's running Intel now. Please note on the page when it's been brought into the modern age with a nice recompile :^) Thanks for the effort. Harley

Fantastic. Just made my Python projects a lot better. Note for Python3 users, you will have to modify the resulting files to import tkinter instead of Tkinter, at least until the program is updated.

I remember using SpecTcl many many years ago and I am quite pleased that it is still available. Iām using it to generate the base code for a fairly complex SCADA-like screen in Python running on a Raspberry Pi, model B. So far so good :-) Now I'm stuck! Once python has created the window, how do you update the objects, for example, changing the text in a label, or colour of a rectangle? HELP !!!
