I used SOEM on a small project using two Lenze Motors and Controllers. Coming from zero knowledge of EtherCAT (and C) this allowed me to discover what was needed and how EtherCAT worked. A really useful, excellent piece of software that stands out because there is so little "open" source stuff available for the supposedly "open" EtherCAT standard. A great job by the developers.

As its name suggests, SOEM is very simple, simple to understand and simple to use. By reading the source code of SOEM, you will completely understand how ethercat works. It is very helpful, Thanks to the Authors.
