I'm sorry I just have to say that this is such a special day for me!
I've been using 7z for YEARS, I brought this into production on more then some systems and it never failed me!
Only recently I've dived deeper into the whole topic and I can safely say: today we should all party hard!
The future looks bright! (Time to update production systems… :-) )

Hm… Glad to see a non-beta version but i think that there´s a bug with assigning file types to 7-zip.
I uninstalled 7zip 4.65 to use the newest version. After installing 9.20 i have to re-assign all filetypes that 7zip should handle but the settings are not saved. Any ideas?

There is some application database in 32-bit Windows 7 that contains exception for 32-bit 7-Zip 4.65. So it worked simpler for 7-Zip 4.65.
For 7-Zip 9.20 you must Right-click the icon of 7-Zip File Manager, and then click Run as administrator. Then you can change file associations and some other options.

It throws up a window saying: The feature you're trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Then it asks me to point it to whre I installed the previous .msi pagkage of 7z.
I do but it reports it can't find 7z918-x64.msi

Did you try right-clicking on 7z918-x64.msi and select "Uninstall" ?

If you used the MSI installer for the last installation make sure to use the MSI installer for the update.
The same applies for the NSIS EXE installer, if you installed the last version with the EXE, update with the EXE.
If you switch the installer from MSI to EXE or vice versa, it is best to remove the old version before the new version is installed.

Aaah, thanks! Wondering because i didn´t need to do that with 4.65?! Okay, now it works.

You don't need to uninstall previous version of 7-zip.
Just install new version to same folder.
That's good to know,
I have 32-bit Windows Vista.
what should I use?
.exe
or
.msi ?
what is the difference and what is better for upgrading from previews version ?
in http://www.7-zip.org/support.html,
Linked URL of "Read FAQ" are perhaps faq.html?.
You can use any installer (exe or msi).
exe version is simpler.
Used exe, Restarted as required, everything went well,
except that I had to re-assign my custom Icons in the registry.

Hi
I can't install it (Win7 64).
It throws up a window saying: The feature you're trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

I do but it reports it can't find 7z918-x64.msi
