DownloadSAM (Sequence Alignment/Map) is a flexible generic format for storing nucleotide sequence alignment. SAMtools provide efficient utilities on manipulating alignments in the SAM format.

Brilliant idea, code is not robust. Doesn't check return status of malloc, other libraries. One shouldn't have to use gdb to understand an expected error.
