Releaseforge no longer seems able to create releases, which I assume is because the sourceforge has changed in a way which breaks the interface releaseforge is used to.
Is there any chance of further development to get things working again?.

The download page appears to have been obsoleted by the new sourceforge download system.

This has nothing to do with "several files", and is simply because sourceforge slightly changed the format of the html of the edit release page.
The attached patch (against releaseforge 1.3, as I can't find on sourceforge any reference to the relevant SCM repository) fixes it for me, and should remain "backwards compatible" if SF decide to revert this change.

I have been using releaseforge to set the file-type for releases with many files for a while now, which has been a huge help, unfortunately this hasn't been working recently.

I then have to enter SourceForge through the web interface and finish up the...

I just upgraded from Fedora Core 6 to Fedora Core 8 and this bug has disappeared. So not
surprisingly it wasn't a releaseforge issue after all. I recommend closing this bug report.

I'm deleting my patch since I just upgraded from Fedora Core 6 to Fedora Core 8 and the problem of swallowed linebreaks is now fixed. So not surprisingly it wasn't a releaseforge issue after all.

Sourceforge has recently deprecated the FTP upload mechanism. This policy change cripples ReleaseForge prior to 1.3.
ReleaseForge 1.3 now uploads files to Sourceforge via SFTP (one of the new supported methods).
Prior to running ReleaseForge 1.3 you will need to obtain Paramiko v1.74 or greater.
ReleaseFroge uses paramiko module for uploading files to SourceForge via SFTP. [Special thanks to...
