  • Followup: RE: how to play the game

P.S. Sorry, Geocities has closed; the Docking Module has been moved to [http://peyre.sqweebs.com/BARIS/index.htm][1]. [1]: http://peyre.sqweebs.com/BARIS/index.htm.

  • Historical Recruitment Mod

There are problems with the 'naut roster in BARIS/RIS. Many of the names are misspelled (Nelyubv instead of Nelyubov, for instance), and a number of the astronauts and cosmonauts in it are fictional. I've gone through the roster and compared it to historical recruitments from the Space Race, and put together a mod that makes recruiting in RIS or BARIS more historically accurate. The mod is...

  • Splash Screen

I understand that this project is known as RIS (Race Into Space) rather than BARIS because we don't have Dr. Aldrin's permission to use his name on it. If so, maybe we ought to modify the game's splash screen. I've created a modified one that the game might use: [RIS Splash Screen][1] [1]: http://share.wiredtron.com/files/150/BARIS/RIS_SplashScreen.bmp.

  • Comment: List of Enhancement Requests

The Docking Module has had to move, as Geocities is closing soon. But the Enhancement Requests doc is still available, and with new additions. It can now be found at http://peyre.sqweebs.com/BARIS/Enhancement_Requests.doc. That copy will be updated periodically, as well.

  • Followup: RE: how to play the game

There are two guides that I know of. The Docking Module (http://www.geocities.com/raceintospace/index.htm) includes them, including the latest version of my guide and incremental updates to it (the "Appendix"). If you want more, you can email the webmaster there about the Companion.

  • how to play the game

hello! When I got the PC installation version, it did not come with playing instructions. Where can I get them? Any ideas why they were not included? I do like the game's interface but not everything is intuitivie...;-) Tom Nesler.

  • Followup: RE: Does PBEM work?

Are there any plans to implement it? I'm not looking to play a PBEM game in the near future, but I've been vaguely curious if the PBEM and Modem options will be activated again.

No, Play by Mail is not implemented at the moment.

  • Does PBEM work?

I've tried clicking on the Play by Mail option on the main menu, but doesn't appear to be doing anything... does something have to be set first? I'm running the latest release on Vista 32 bit.

  • Game forgets the mission you just set up

I've noticed this in both the Windows and Linux versions. Let's say you set up a manned mission and selected the crews for it, then cancel it and reselect crews, because you made a mistake selecting Primary & Backup crews--if you only have 2 crews available, you can't just swap Primary and Backup; you have to back out of crew selection to where it shows the mission you've selected, then you hit...
