Phalanx is a chess engine which understands the xboard protocol. It's suitable for beginner and intermediate players (I'm counting on your help to make it suitable for strong players!)

Jim Ablett graciously made a windows version of Phalanx-XXII. The package contains both a Windows executable and the modified sources to be build with MS Visual C++. He also reports that his version is competing in Olivier Deville's Chesswar on Category C: http://loirechecs.chez-alice.fr/chesswar If you use Windows, go grab your copy of Phalanx now: http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/phalanx Of course, the old Unix only release is still available. I haven't yet tested Jim Ablett's build on Linux or BSD, stay tuned for that.
Nothing has changed except for a few cosmethic things; Phalanx now compiles cleanly on an AMD64 Linux.
