  • The support from Vidar and his team is fantastic! I managed to migrate a large application from OWLNEXT 6.32.5 to OWLNEXT 7 in just a few hours. If you have legacy Borland C++ 5.02 code (or similar) and want to migrate it into the modern age without re-writing everything, then get OWLNEXT. There is some learning curve but the effort is definitely worth it. It also means you can use Microsoft Visual Studio (I was using 2010 but just moved to 2022) as your development environment which is a massive improvement over Borland's IDE.

  • An even better OWL than before, and OWL has always been easier and more reliable than MFC.

  • I'm maintaining a really large application (several 100,000 lines) that I started developing about 15 years ago. Back then Borland C++ was the best compiler around and so I chose the OWL framework. When Borland was swept away by M$ I was stuck with Borland C++ 5.01 and struggled bravely with it from NT to Vista. A couple of months ago my app just grew too complex for this old compiler and the Borland debugger ran amuck. As starting from scratch with .NET or MFC was not an option at all I was at a complete loss until I discovered OWLNext. It took me only four weeks to port all of my code and get it up and running with OWLNext and Visual Studio. It's truly incredible what you guys have done here and what a kind and helpful bunch you are. So if you have legacy OWL programs to maintain - look no further, OWLNext will keep them safe and warm.

  • If you maintain a legacy OWL application do yourself a favour: Upgrade to a modern C++ compiler and OWLNext. We have used OWLNext for over 10 years now. Thanks to the excellent work by the contributors to this project we have been able to keep our OWL applications up to date in face of the enormous evolution in Windows, C++ and modern programming techniques and conventions. So we cannot recommend OWLNext highly enough. Go download now.

  • OWL Next is a robust and mature framework. Supports UNICODE and ANSI, OCX, ActiveX, OLE. Uses standard C++, provides better way to develop in Linux than VCL or MFC. Easy to learn and use due to the Object Oriented design. Allows to deploy single .EXE or shared .DLL. Includes tools for easier development. User/Company supports is quick.
