The data format won't change, so it should be safe to use it. And if there are bugs in the current version that prevent you from using it, I'll try to fix them as quick as possible. Thanks in advance for testing!

Thanks, I'll try this. Can I assume that the binary format (the database XML format) which is produced by this jVLT-20091107.jar is stable, and will be supported later. In this case I can to try to just switch to this version, which would mean better testing.

Hi Artem,
There is a beta version available at http://jvlt.hburchardt.fastmail.fm/jVLT-20091107.jar that includes the custom fields. It's possible to enter long texts, but they might be displayed in a funny way. When trying out, you might have to add the "CustomFields" entry in the "Fields shown in the HTML area" section of the preferences dialog.

if you are going to allow rather long text there (say 5-10 sentences), it should be fine.
Vs the second part, I think that if saving window sizes is a lot of work, then at least amending the defaults would be great. Current defaults are unusable for me:
