gl-117 is much more CPU-bound than most other games. This is a problem on my Athlon64 3200+ (Newcastle core, overclocked from 2.2 to ~2.4GHz, but with single-channel DDR333) w/ NVidia 7600GT. At max quality setting (5/150), I get at best 35 fps at 1680x1050. Depending on terrain complexity, sometimes down to 20 fps at worst. This is after compiling with -O3 -ffast-math -mfpmath=sse. When I set the joystick as a control device, neither "x" , "s" buttons or numeric keys is not working.
The reason could be the fact, that my joystick (below) is detected as a 4 button's (actually it has only two buttons) and actions of thrust are mapped on non-existing buttons. The next problem is that any manual change (as deleting appropriate lines like "joystick_incthrust = A4") in...

I have been trying to use this game with a new joypad
that I have aquired. The debug info appears to detect a
two axis 8 button device and the game options suggest
that buttons 4 and 5 should increase and decrease
thrust respectively but it does not appear to work.
Altering the config to use 6 and 7 does not help
either. Attempting to set the throttle axis setting to
N/A does not help...
